About the Dark Doctrine monographs

About the Dark Doctrine monographs. These are about 20-30 pages each, small type, 8.5" x 11" paper. They look very "nice," now, although I perfer the "cobbled together" look of the originals. There was something about the originals that spoke of URGENCY, the way they were formatted with obvious cut-and-paste (LITERALLY so) text, xeroxed together with hand-done underlining and marginalia. The capitalization of certain words, in order to make certain one's understanding and force the reader to "SEE" what is being said, it looked like someone was aware that we are on the brink of a potential crisis, and that secrecy no longer mattered. The mongographs themselves... oh my god. MINDBLOWING. I ordered them before the pricing was standardized, so I got "Real Wicca" and "Baphomet" first, because at the time they were smaller, shorter monographs. "Baphomet" IRREVOCABLY changed the way I veiwed Satanism. Before, I placed modern Satanism in context of the Enlightenment movement. It was on par with Protestantism and Reform Judaism, in that it was a re-interpretation of traditional religion within the context of modern knowledge. Because with the increasing prosperity of the modern period in Europe, more people had time to do things other than work. Self-cultivation became important, and where a preocupation with the self was once a sin, it now became a virtue. In this interpretation of Satanism, as the Christian concept of sin becomes our modern concept of virtue, the only rational choice to someone within that context is to change the icon of virtue from God to Satan. Well, "Sigil of Baphomet" totally destroyed that image. It RIPPED Satanism COMPLETELY away from the context of Judiasm or Christianity. It FORCED me to see it as something ALIEN to that belief system, something FAR OLDER than those blips on the historical map. This new way of looking at Satanism was further reinforced through ROOTS I & II and SERPENTS VS. ADAMITES. I was just amazed at the level of depth and complexity, presented in non-mystical, non- academic language without being drawn out into a whole book. The monographs are very ESSENTIAL, sort of like the "pemmican" of Satanism. Because I had an interest in learning all about the human history I wasn't able to in "let's start with the Fertile Cressant and move Westward to America" version of world history taught in U.S. high schools, I took a a number of Oriental history classes, particularly focusing in on how the intellectual history and gender roles. In order to grasp the material presented, I also ordered Daoism and Tantra/Vajrayana. Again, my mind was uplifted and expanded, (and my GPA improved). One of the reasons I have LITTLE PATIENCE with people who bash the authenticity of the Dark Doctrines is that EVERYTHING in the Eastern monographs, INCLUDING the Kaballah, are things that I was able to find in my studies. I wrote an essay using further clarification of the philosophies using Tani Jantsang as an oral source, and listed her in my bibliography as a "Black Hat." My teacher never argued with a single thing in the essay. My paper was returned to me with ONLY TWO marks on it. "Perfect understanding of the material" and "absolutely amazing analysis." Ms. Jantsang can't say too much about the monographs without looking like she's trying to sell them. Me? I can't say ENOUGH good things about them. At one time I had the whole series, but they're so good every time I loan them out the people just go away and take them with them. I started ordering them two at a time, just in case I do want to borrow them out. They are WELL WORTH the investment, and provide the REAL DEAL, ESPECIALLY for the Eastern doctrines. One thing I should note - one CAN find, if one looks, EVERYTHING in the Dark Doctrine mongraphs from outside sources. HOWEVER, the monographs will let you KNOW what to look FOR. Otherwise, it would take DECADES to figure it out, if one even COULD figure it out. Because new religions always canabalize parts of the older ones they transplant (e.g. many modern Christians practice the Lithuanian pagan tradition of coloring eggs during Easter), the Dark Doctrines are "scattered" throughout many other religions. I think that the monographs do an EXCELLENT job at revealing a root source of an ADAMANTINE DARK TRADITION. I guess this is why so many people MISS THE POINT regarding Grave's "the White Goddess." That book is NOT about how Pagans hid their Pagan ways - not at all. It's about how something OLDER and PURER than Paganism hid from EVERYONE, while staying open enough to allow for communication, and how poetry and metaphor are mnemonics and coding for this Dark Tradition. But, like I said, one has to know what to look for. In the West, there are a few good books that will paint a picture. These are BOOKS, so of course they're going to be a bit larger and have all sorts of things that may be of only slight interest to the Satanist. One is "The White Goddess" by Robert Graves. "Real Wicca" is essential for reading and understanding this book, and could be considered the "Cliff Notes" for it. Another book that presents the war between Christian and Satanic people in Europe is "Satanism and Witchcraft" by Jules Michelet, which is best read alongside "Eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven: Women, Sexuality, and the Catholic Church," by Uta Ranke-Heinemann. The latter book is very dry, so it depends on your level of interest. Kaiden Fox
